Provide employment and career coaching to individuals participating in the Reach Up program with the goal of becoming economically self-sufficient. Assist individuals to achieve their employment goals through career exploration, progressive employment and educational opportunities related to future employment. The employment advisor will support the job search process by identifying goals and barriers to employment, conducting appropriate assessments and working directly with participants to attain the soft skills necessary to be adequately prepared for the workplace.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Human Services, Counseling, Education or a related field with knowledge of family-centered, prevention-based practice; Minimum of three years working with families, including two years with a teen and/or adult focus; Experience with high-risk families preferred, with working knowledge of substance abuse, mental health, and family violence issues; Understanding of the barriers to employment and specific knowledge of local and state employment programs, including worksites, state agencies and other nonprofit organizations; Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of people including community partners and parents while maintaining an awareness of individual needs and strengths; Working knowledge of education, vocational, and business resources in Washington County; Excellent organizational and communication skills; strong computer skills; Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make prompt and effective decisions; Commitment to family-centered, collaborative service delivery; Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other professionals, maintain records, and complete reports on a timely basis; Familiarity with regulations, laws, and procedures of the Vermont Agency of Human Services preferred; Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team; Must hold a valid Vermont driver’s license or acquire one within three months. 40 hours, year-round.
