Join the creative and dedicated team at the Committee on Temporary Shelter! COTS Family Shelter is currently recruiting a dynamic and organized individual who is committed to our mission to provide emergency shelter, services, and housing for people who are homeless or marginally housed in Vermont.
As a member of the Family Shelter Staff Team, the Shelter Support Specialist maintains a safe and supportive environment while building trusting relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness. In addition to Family Shelter Staff duties, the Shelter Support Specialist serves as the general support person regarding maintenance issues, supplies, and various shelter needs as they arise. Additional responsibilities include providing occasional courier services between COTS properties and other local organizations.
Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant work experience required. Social or Human Services background is a plus. The ability to work independently as well as part of a committed team is necessary. A strong candidate would possess excellent skills in the areas of office administration, inventory upkeep, and basic maintenance. Excellent communication, sense of fairness and human dignity, and crisis management skills are a must. Reliable transportation is required. Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs.
