This is a full-time, benefited position in a dynamic, flexible environment. The Advocacy Program Site Manager (Manager) is charged with ensuring the overall effectiveness and smooth operation of the Advocacy Program which is comprised of advocacy for domestic and sexual violence survivors as well as sexual and domestic violence prevention work in schools as well as the community. The Manager is responsible for staff supervision and volunteer coordination, program management, and direct service as needed. The Manager is responsible for maintaining a supportive, participatory, ethical and committed environment for staff and service-users, and also serves as the primary point of contact for community partners. Details of job duties are described, below.

 

  1. Direct Service Coordination
    1. Provide supervision of and support to staff and volunteer advocates as needed, including after-hours
    2. Ensure adequate staffing of office and after-hours hotline, support groups and other program services
    3. Ensure timely, accurate data collection and reporting
    4. Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with VAWA standards and best practice guidelines from the field.
    5. Facilitate regular program meetings
    6. Provide direct service as needed, including serving as a resource to on-call staff.

 

  1. Outreach/ Education
    1. Coordinate planning and implementation of awareness month activities for both Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Awareness Months
    2. Provide supervision of and support to sexual and domestic violence prevention staff
    3. Develop collaborative relationships with other community agencies/programs
    4. Participate in monthly Domestic Violence Task Force meetings and other collaborative meetings when feasible/appropriate, with the goal of bringing a victim sensitive voice to as many community forums as possible as well as to increase use of Umbrella services among those who need them.

 

  1. Program Development
    1. In close collaboration with the Newport Site Manager, represent DV/SV program in agency-wide development discussions, including policy/procedure review, facility use, strategic planning, etc.
    2. Work with ED on planning, budgeting and evaluation
    3. Serve as member of Umbrella Leadership Team.

 

  1. General
    1. Channel information between program staff, the ED, etc. – includes writing monthly board reports, annual progress reports and other reports as requested by funders, the community or the ED (in collaboration with Newport Site Manager)
    2. Participate in staff meetings and Leadership Team meetings
    3. Attend Board Meetings and committee meetings as requested
    4. Attend meetings with grant partners and state network as requested or required by funders
    5. Perform any appropriate activities as requested by the Executive Director.

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • BA degree or equivalent in relevant field: social work, human services
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence
  • Working knowledge of criminal justice system
  • Experience providing empowerment based advocacy to people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing a diverse group of staff members
  • Knowledge of community organizations and resources in Caledonia County
  • A positive and collaborative outlook
