The Vermont Commodity Program is the macro-level work, which complements farm-fresh food rescue (aka gleaning) and farm-to-institution efforts in Vermont. This includes a workforce development training program that runs in tandem to the activities of cleaning, packing, and processing surplus crops in a food hub facility. These crops are destined for Vermont’s more vulnerable residents and the program engages workforce development trainees: individuals who seek to strengthen their employment skills while participating in a meaningful work experience.
Applicants should have interest in food systems and agriculture. Applications accepted until filled (anticipated start date of 8/28/17).
