Essex CHIPS (Community Health Initiatives and Programs for Students), an innovative nonprofit that promotes healthy youth development and community wellness in Essex, Essex Junction and Westford, VT, is seeking a dynamic and creative Executive Director. The Executive Director will lead our organization as we strive to achieve our mission of “uniting the community in an environment where people are empowered to make healthy choices through youth-adult partnerships, youth leadership, and civic engagement.”


The Executive Director at Essex CHIPS will:

  • provide organizational leadership while working with Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to implement a comprehensive strategic plan to move CHIPS towards achieving our mission;
  • create and implement a responsible organizational budget and long term sustainability plan;
  • oversee planning and implementing of effective fundraising, grant writing, and resource development strategies;
  • recruit, train, and supervise high quality staff and volunteers;
  • oversee the design and delivery of innovative, high-quality programming and community initiatives, ensuring that clear objectives, policies and procedures are in place and followed;
  • build partnerships and conduct community outreach to enhance awareness and support of Essex CHIPS.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A successful employment history in nonprofit leadership (minimum two years in a nonprofit leadership role)
  • Experience with a variety of resource development strategies, including fundraising
  • Exceptional professional writing skills, including experience with successful grant writing
  • Experience supervising staff and an ability to work collaboratively with both youth and adults
  • A working knowledge and passion for the fields of healthy youth development and public health
  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with a diverse group of community members, including youth
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work independently
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Must complete a background check
  • Ability to thrive in and foster a fun, dynamic, youth-friendly work environment
